Upon leaving the Fillard Goldman Museum Rune catches a cab to the nearest Hotel in the city. He sets up a room for himself and then goes for a walk around the neighborhood. He stumbles on an empty parking lot, in the parking lot a man appears in a display of magic and greets the Obrimos[1].
The specter declares himself a figment of the city’s imagination and predicts a repeat of Sacramento’s history: the disappearance of the Mage population[2]. However the disappearances and deaths are predicted to be present in more than just Sacramento, but in an increasing number of cities. With the prophecy a warning is also delivered, and the specter instructs Rune to only tell whom he implicitly trusts, else things will become worse[3].
Rune wakes up to a knock on his door and the threads of high space magic wrapping the room. [4] who enters gives his name as Niles, a messenger from the Guardians of the Veil. Niles turns the mere conversation into an interrogation concerning the Specter who had visited Rune.
Rune responds to Niles’ interrogation with the excuse that he remembers nothing, despite the resonance Niles had sensed. He then offers whatever information he manages to ‘remember’ to the Guardians should he remember.
