Nightfall

Prior to being Taken, Neil Fields was an Olympic hopeful fencer, as well as professional level dancer. The child of Russian Jewish immigrants, he is fluent in the Russian language, as well as culture. Little is known of Nightfall's Durance, other than at some point prior to his escape, Nightfall's Keeper took his voice, leaving him a mute.

Beyond the Hedge

Al-Adin has continually, and consistently, said this about nightfall: "Don't worry though, He is awesome at everything! He's great!"

After arriving in Sacramento as a mute^[1] --the result of his Keeper's work-- Nightfall made friends with Lisaundra Frost of the Winter Court and Grace Quintain of the Spring Court. Meeting Grace was the first display of Nightfall's skill with a blade, when he undressed her with slices through her clothing during a duel. Lisaundra would eventually teach him sign language and invite him to the Winter Court. Shortly after his arrival, he took part in an Amateur Night at Club Ember, where he met Myah Torsione. The have remained casual lovers since. After a near-romance with Grace, and losing him to Winter, she left Sacramento but left her studio, Fair Folk Dance and Dojo, to Nightfall.

Later, Neil would accompany Lisaundra, Al-Adin, and others into the Hedge where he would discover his voice at a Goblin Market. Lisaundra would trade her half-fae blood for the voice, and it was revealed that she was, indeed, the child of a True Fae. It was also revealed that some destiny surrounded her, and Lisaundra disappeared shortly after they returned from the Hedge.

Having lost two of his friends, Nightfall became a bit of a recluse, immersing himself in the day-to-day operation of the Dojo, which he eventually renamed Glissade. He would once again foray into the Hedge to accompany a group of Lost, and was later wounded helping defend them from giant spiders. Again, he returned to mundane life and sank out of sight.

After another period of quiet, Nightfall assumed the duties of Archer of the Lonely March, and became more active in Winter and Freehold affairs, beginning by assisting with the 'Ear' investigation.

Light & Darkness

During this time, Sam Barkley ascended to the Summer throne, and the Summer Court in general became more aggressive and outspoken. A public deriding of Nightfall ultimately culminated in a showdown between Summer and Winter. While preparing to enter the Hedge, Barkley made a comment that both Big Swilla and Nightfall took offense to, and both decided to show the Summer Court that it wasn't going to be tolerated any longer^[2].

Fighting broke out; when the ascendant Sovereign, Alice White, ordered Barkley to stand down, he refused, and became an outlaw. Summer presented Rust Mane as their new Sovereign, and Alice censured Nightfall by placing him in servitude to the Summer Court for the turn of a season.

Nightfall would return to the Freehold, assisting with assaulting the Bloom stronghold^[3], where the trail to the man who assaulted Terri Nutkins led. Again, aspersions were cast upon the Fairest when he 'finished off' wounded enemy, but again he also had his share of supporters.

After the marriage of Terri Nutkins and Rick Pereg, Nightfall left Sacramento and Alice White behind.^[4].

Extraordinary Women

Alice White

Although meeting Alice long before^[5] she became Queen^[6] of the Spring Court, it was her display of resolve and Desire which caught his eye, showing she was more than just a (extraordinarily) pretty face. Even then, it wasn't until after she broke off a relationship with Enzo that Nightfall expressed his interest. After a rocky start^[7], he tried again at an opening they both attended^[8], at which point the timing was right, and they were both ready. Oddly, Gianna also intimated that there was some significance to their union^[9], but it has yet to be revealed.

Alison Yates

After the death of a friend, Alison Yates sought training in hand to hand combat at Glissade, which led to the beginning of a relationship between her and Nightfall^[10]. While well suited, both had secrets which complicated their relationship -- hers being that she was the Alpha of the Heart of Granite Werewolf pack. Nightfall cared for Alison very deeply, and guilt over his 'other life' led him to suggest they simply be close friends^[11], which they remained until Alison left Sacramento.

Katrin Byeli

Once the Archer of the Lonely March of the Winter Court, Nightfall was often in the company of the beautiful Winter Queen, Katrin Byeli. Although often hinted at, it wasn't until one evening she made her attraction known^[12]. Nightfall, having had several shots of vodka and likewise attracted, responded. Although Katrin might have wished otherwise, it was definitely a one-off for Nightfall, mainly because of his penchant for vibrant personalities. Despite that, and his leaving the Winter Court, it remains a bond between them. Nightfall still considers Katrin his Queen, second only to Alice White, and will answer her call with loyalty and without question.

• Katrin Byeli is the reigning Sovereign of the Winter Court.

Myah Torsione

Neil first met Myah at a dancing competition held at Club Ember^[13], where they both won the female and male competitions respectively. Despite being a mute at the time, Neil made his interest in the petite beauty clear, and she reciprocated. A few days later, they had their first date and hit it off. Their relationship continued in an off-and-on fashion for the next year and a half, even through the Lost Nights^[14]; it included another dancing competition ^[15], and a very unusual meeting at Ballo Della Notte^[16]. The casual, but long-term, affair only only recently ended when Nightfall began a serious relationship with Alice White.
