Synopsis

On the face of it, Wallis Engineering is an exclusive firm dedicated to providing the best work possible for their small client list. In reality, WE is a front for a large operation dedicated to the theft and sale of art and antiquities. This is the story of how the Sacramento branch of Wallis began recruiting for talent.

Details

Dizzy is at work in his straight job as a car valet when he is unknowingly given a test--getting into an Aston Martin, he finds a note telling him the car has been stolen and that the police have been called. Dizzy races through the city, trying to lose the policemen on his tail while following the directions given him by the on-board navigation system. After getting rid of the cops Dizzy is directed to the Sacramento docks, where the car is crated up and is offered employment by Harry Woods.

After his test, Dizzy goes to the Wells Fargo Center where Wallis has its local headquarters, and meets fellow new recruit Nigel Corpening and their liaison, Monica Forrester. Monica explains that the two men are needed to help in the recruitment of a thief named Charlie--their reputations might help bring the young woman aboard. Unfortunately the trio determines that Charlie just isn't up to Wallis potential yet; they watch her attempt to lift a man's suitcase but at the last moment he realizes what's up. Charlie gets away but she won't be getting recruited, today.

The three take a break at Gypsy's for lunch to discuss their next move. There they meet Colin Harrison and are briefly joined by Christine Woods, who lines up their next job: some clients are interested in some ancient books being held by the Fillard Goldman Museum. The "engineers" need to do some book-nabbing.
