James Hallen

James Hallen is an Elodoth Blood Talon and a member of the Heart of Granite pack. Also known as Wall Scratcher.

Biography

Before his First Change James Hallen was beginning to despair that anything would ever change, that the world would ever get better. But now he knows it can. A minor civil servant among many civil servants, his life had changed forever.

After changing he was found by another werewolf called Justin who took him in the Howler’s pack and made him beta, despite James’ inexperience. When the pack fought a group of Ridden Justin lost himself to Death Rage, and James managed to bring him down from it. An Elodoth, James was persuaded to attempt initiation into the Blood Talons by Justin and finally managed to pass his trial and learnt a lesson or two about the lack of rules in a battle. However, while he was learning a new gift from a spirit of Fenris-Ur, Justin sparred with Jonathan, another pack mate, and lost control, Death Raging again. The others bought him down, but killed him in the process, Jonathan dealing the killing blow, something James is yet to forgive him for.

Soon after his Change James had moved into an apartment with a woman called Sally as his roommate, the two of them became very close, and despite the problems caused by James’ wolfish aspect they ended up together, something that ended when James broke the Oath and told her he was a werewolf, attempting to prove it to her, causing her to believe he was mocking her and to leave. That situation changed when she Changed herself, a short time later and moved back in, although the exact nature of their relationship still remains to be seen.

Now attempting to gather various werewolves into the Howlers and bring them back together, James has found himself in a position with a lot of responsibility and an uncertainly that he can manage it, to the point of watching to see if any of the others might be both capable and willing to replace him as Alpha.

Without an anchor and a way to stabilize himself James fled the city and vanished to Santa Rosa for several months, managing to have a little contact with the local werewolves, enough to keep reasonably balanced, but still somewhat aloof.

When he finally returned to Sacramento he joined Alison Yates in the pack she was rebuilding.
