Wiki Pages & Signatures

All vampires need to create a wiki page. Vampire Players are also required to set up either a Mini Sheet or Signature line for your character. The Signature line or Minisheet must contain the following:

  • Blood Potency if Aspect of the Predator or Mask of Tranquility is not active
  • Persistent effects which affect others (Obfuscate 2 or Protean 1, for example)
  • Status (Domain/City, Covenant, Clan)
  • Striking Looks Merit (including dots and a single word summary)
  • Nosferatu Curse
  • Daeva Vice

For assistance with setting up a minisheet please see the Mini Character Sheet walkthrough.

Systems

Resistance

Resistance is changed as follows:

  • Resolve or Composure + Supernatural Tolerance (Contested Resistance) becomes Resolve + Composure + Supernatural Tolerance.
  • Stamina + Supernatural Tolerance (Contested Resistance) becomes Stamina + Resolve + Supernatural Tolerance.
  • Resolve or Composure only (Automated Resistance) becomes Resolve + Composure.
  • Stamina only (Automated Resistance) becomes Stamina + Resolve.

Vitae Pools

Blood pools refresh every Scene (unless linked) and are calculated as follows:

Average Blood Pool

Blood Pool 3 (Base)

Bonuses:

  • +1 per Domain with Hunting rights secured
  • +3 per Rack access
  • Herd: +1 for ● & ●●, +2 for ●●● & ●●●●, +3 for ●●●●●
  • +1 per dot in Haven (Location)
  • Coil of Blood 1: Blood Seeps Slowly: +1 for Resolve ● & ●●, +2 for Resolve ●●● & ●●●●, +3 for Resolve ●●●●●
  • +1 Coil of Blood 3: Perspicacious Blood

Penalties:

  • -1 Feeding Mood not written for the month (until 6 written)
  • -1 using Haven of Soil
  • -1 for every 2 Ghouls, rounded down
  • -2 living in Barrens

Hunting/Feeding Roll

Any feeding rolls performed under the new system will net 1 vitae/suxx instead of a flat 5 vitae on a successful roll. The Feeding Rolls are: Strength + Subterfuge, not capped by Humanity, or Presence + Persuasion, capped at Humanity. A Feeding Roll can only be made once per month to supplement the Average Blood Pool; otherwise, Feeding must be role-played or done via Mood.

Occult

The following is a discription of the knowledge that the occult skills will give you about Vampires in the Vampire the Requiem Setting. These are just guidelines, of course; in-play knowledge gained will supersede this. This also doesn't assume complete knowledge -- for something like a Discipline or Bloodline, it would allow a Skill check.[1]

● - Nothing
●● - Common Disciplines; Clan & Legendary Bloodlines (fluff)
●●● - Covenant's social structure, abilities, & Bloodlines; awareness of other Supernals; Chosen Bloodlines (fluff); Legendary Bloodline Discs
●●●● - Other Covenants's social structures; Chosen Bloodline Discs; Hidden Bloodlines (fluff); other Covenant's Bloodlines (fluff); other Cov's abilities (fluff)
●●●●● - Hidden Bloodline Discs; other Cov Bloodline Discs; other Cov's abilities (Details)

Willpower

Per WoD core, WP refreshes once a Story ends; otherwise, it's through four means:

  • fulfilling your Virtue
  • fulfilling your Vice
  • small 'triumphs'
  • a night of rest

Willpower pools will not refresh every Scene. They will be a constant, and must be tracked in your signature lines. For every New Scene a character enters (which is not linked to another same-day Scene) the character adds 1 WP to their total. This is to simulate the night of rest. Otherwise, it can only be regained through Virtue/Vice & possible triumphant acts. Scene-hopping to abuse the system will be Not Good (tm).

Covenants

Covenant advantages/supernatural benefits require the Covenant to have at least three members active for at least one month. Any fewer or less, and the Covenant becomes an organization in name only, and loses it's advantages until it meets the minimum criteria again.

Character Creation

  • New Players must begin with a 'Starter' character (0-30xp)
  • No FOB/new Embraces, unless you make arrangements prior to have a PC mentor who is wholly responsible for teaching and mistakes made. Otherwise, all PCs are expected to know the basics of Kindred society.
  • The Anachronism Flaw is Permanently Banned from Use. Characters are required to understand modern society such as how to handle money, use a phone, take public transportation. An MP3 Player is not a magic box with little minstrals in it.

Clans

Bloodlines

  • Please also note: By Edict of the Prince of Sacramento, members of the Kallisti bloodline are banned from the Domain of Sacramento, on pain of death. That does not mean a player can't play a Kallisti, but doing so means the player accepts the risks inherent in choosing to play a character of that bloodline in this setting.[2]
  • If a Bloodline is taken at Character creation, the Willpower Dot that is used to activate the bloodline must be bought back or WP is at -1 until it is purchased back. See also Blood Potency.

Sorceries

  • Some of the newer (read: power creeped) BLs, such as the Apollinaire and Iltani, bring the standard 4th Discipline in-clan but also allow for custom BL Sorcery. These sorceries (Merges, Vodoun) are removed from play, maintaining the +1 Discipline model of Bloodlines.

Disciplines

  • Clan Specialties: Auspex, Dominate, Majesty, Nightmare, and Protean must be learned in-game from a teacher if the character is not a member of the Clan. They cannot be taken at creation and 'backstoried'.
  • Clan Specialties: Auspex, Dominate, Majesty, Nightmare, and Protean can only be taught by that Clan's respective members. Such Disciplines gained through a Bloodline are not teachable.

Source Books

Most books are accepted for play; however, the following books are not allowed:

Ghouls

  • No 'rogue' ghouls
  • No PC ghouls
  • Ghouls are considered Retainers with a +1 dot requirement (a Ghoul equivalent of a *** Retainer would cost ****)

Hollow

  • Hollow[3] Vampires are not allowed.

Red Surrender

  • Red Surrender[4] is not allowed.

Merits

Dream Visions

  • Will use Blood Potency for Automated Resistance[5].

Interest Groups

Refers to the collection of Merits in the Carthian supplement, from pages 181-183

  • 9-again only applies to Skill checks, not Discipline usage
  • Requires a monthly Mood to keep active, as per intended restriction on p.181

Haven

There has been a long term misconception that the elements (Size/Security/etc) of the Sanctuary (Haven/Sanctum/Hollow) Merit are separate Merits. They're a single Merit. Also, please note that we deviate from RAW by allowing Sanctuary (Security) to exceed 5. There is no limit on Security.

  • The Wrong Way: Haven (Size) 1 <2xp> + Haven (Security) 2 <6xp> = 8xp
  • The Right Way: Haven (Size 1, Security 2) 3 = 12xp

Note: Vampires without Tenancy rights may not expand Haven or Herd beyond 2 dots.

Mentor

Teachers are required to raise statistics beyond 3 dots. If a PC teacher cannot be found, a Mentor can be purchased.

  • A Mentor will have an number of areas of expertise equal to the Merit rating, and have a proficiency in each equal to the Merit rating. Example: A 3 dot Mentor could have Computers, Brawl, and Kung-Fu each at 3.

Occultation

  • Occultation[6] does not provide a bonus to Obfuscate rolls; it simply hinders the ability of other characters to obtain information about the Occulted person by levying a -1 penalty per dot possessed in this Merit, just like the Mage merit of the same name[7].

Status

Status will be handled using the Mind's Eye Theater The Requiem (LARP) rules:

  • The Prince and/or Prince's Harpy may raise or lower (strip) Status
  • Public opinion polls will be used to calculate Status rather than being purchased with XP

Unliving Anchor

  • Unliving Anchor[8] is not allowed for play

Disciplines

Crúac

Next to some changes two new rituals have been added to the rituals which are allowed on the Edge of Darkness.

Aura of the Hag (••)

  • Using this horrible visage, an Acolyte can terrify others by smearing her body with blood. The used blood magic transforms her into a potbellied, cross-eyed monster of a hag. Successfully enacting the ritual costs the ritualist her ability to use Socialize or Persuasion on mortals for the remainder of the scene or until the body is cleaned, but in exchange, she gains her level of Crúac as a bonus to Intimidation rolls.

The Hag's Claw(••)

  • As a last resort the ritualist can, by spending a point of Vitae, extend her fingernails out into wicked-looking curved claws. These claws inflict 1L damage in combat, but on a dramatic failure they snap, causing a point of lethal damage to the caster.

Rain (•••)

  • The effect of this ritual remains unchanged, however, the dice roll has a standard penalty of -1. More penalties are added equal to the amount of penalties you want to imply on others.
  • For example: An Acolyte wants to create a mist to impose a -3 penalty on all rolls regarding sight. Her dice pool is Manipulation + Occult + Cruac - 1 (standard) - 3 (Chosen number of imposed penalties)

Tiamats Offspring (•••)

  • Please note the Homunculi must be purchased with the Retainer Merit at the basic cost of 2.

Dominate

Command (•)

  • Regarding tasks which might have a duration (ex. 'Guard' or 'Wait'), the duration will last for a number of Turns equal to the successes rolled on activation, as per Mind's Eye Theatre Requiem[9].

Nightmare

Monstrous Countenance (•):

  • Addendum to the Exceptional Success effect: If the victim is attacked, his Defense applies and he may act in the next turn and thereafter, and the effect of the power is broken.

Shatter the Mind (••••):

  • Exceptional Success: No additional effect other than increased effectiveness.

Mortal Fear (•••••):

  • Exceptional Success: No additional effect other than increased effectiveness.

Obfuscate

Touch of Shadows (•)

  • Remove all text about declaring what an item is exactly. Anyone with supernatural perception can go directly into a Contest of Wills, just like they could with a person using Cloak of the Night in the room.
  • Note that this power affects only the item in question — it is not intended to hide other items as a byproduct. A character could not, for example, conceal a mailbox and then hide behind it or conceal a computer and hide a stake beneath it. The mailbox or computer would indeed be concealed but the character or stake would not.[10]
  • Touch of Shadow cannot be used on well-traveled areas such as the main entrance to a location, a connecting hallway that links a number of rooms throughout the play area, or the only entrance to a room that a character has just entered in the same scene. In other words, you can’t lure a target into a room, use Touch of Shadow on the door behind you and thus trap the target in the room, because their mind knows they had to enter somehow and refuses to believe the illusion.[11]

Cloak of the Night (•••)

  • Upon entering a Scene (or a Target entering) with others who might have mental defenses or supernatural perception, a Reflexive Contest of Wills is rolled.
  • Characters may only move your normal Speed with Obfuscate active. Running, or use of Celerity, instantly ends the Cloak.
  • Surprise rolls[12] are can/will be made for characters attacked by a Cloaked character; mounting an attack breaks the Cloak.

Resilience

The following two changes are made to Resilience:

  • Activation is Reflexive
  • The downgrade pool can be refreshed with the expenditure of a Willpower point

Serendipity

Stars In Alignment (•••••):

  • This ability can be active for one Scene per calendar month, and must be declared and paid for at the beginning of the Scene.
  • The 9 again quality replaces the +3 modifier to all dice pools.

Theban Sorcery

(●)

Vitae Reliquary:

  • Mechanically, this allows the characters to convert part of their Vitae pool to a portable, neutral form.
  • This option must be declared upon Scene entry and an activation roll made.
  • The Vitae is subtracted directly from the Vitae pool, and does not carry over to other Scenes.

(●●)

Resistance of Discipline[13]: This Ritual is not in play/banned.

(●●●)

Blood Fire[14]: This Ritual is not in play/banned.

Legionnaire’s Blessing (●●●)[15]: This Ritual is not in play/banned.

Pharoah's Paces[16]: This Ritual is not in play/banned.

Vision of the Will[17]: This Ritual is not in play/banned.

(●●●●)

Call of Amoniel[18]: This Ritual is not in play/banned.

Display of the Beast (●●●●)[19]: This Ritual is not in play/banned.

Spear of Faith[20]: This Ritual is not in play/banned.

(●●●●●)

Damned's Day[21]: This Ritual is not in play/banned.

Imprecation of Sin[22]: This Ritual is not in play/banned.

Learning Disciplines & Devotions

In Clan Disciplines

In-Clan Disciplines (including Bloodline) require no teacher.

Out-of-Clan Disciplines

(-not- including Clan 'signature') can be 'activated' by a character without a teacher. Each month, the player may roll Blood Potency; once they attain successes equal to twice the total 'dot' level of the Discipline being activated, they may develop/purchase it. The player MUST have the XP required to purchase it before they can begin rolling, and it remains 'in escrow' until the Discipline development is completed. Having a teacher skips this requirement.

Clan 'Signature' Disciplines

Learning a Clan's signature Discipline always requires a character teacher.

Clan 'Signatures' : Auspex, Dominate, Majesty, Nightmare, and Protean must be learned in-game from a teacher if the character is not a member of the Clan. They cannot be taken at creation and 'backstoried'.

Clan 'Signatures' : Auspex, Dominate, Majesty, Nightmare, and Protean can only be taught by that Clan's respective members. Such Disciplines gained through a Bloodline are not teachable.

Devotions

may be developed by a character without a teacher. Each month, the player may roll Int+Occult*; once they attain successes equal to twice the total 'dot' requirement of the Devotion, they may develop/purchase it. The player MUST have the XP required to purchase it before they can begin rolling, and it remains 'in escrow' until the Devotion is completed. Having a teacher skips this requirement.

  • Gangrel Clan Weakness does not apply.

Finding A Teacher

If a PC or NPC teacher cannot be found, a character may also purchase a Mentor to learn from.

  • A Mentor cannot be purchased for Clan signature Displines or Covenant powers if the character does not belong to that Clan or Covenant.
