Fringe

HISTORY

Fringe was born and raised in a circus, and ran away to have a normal life.

It did not work out that way. Instead she wound up on the streets and turned to petty thievery in order to stay ahead (and alive). She was rescued from this half-life by a fence called Bug Eye (for his prominent eyes). With effort, she made her way up his small gang and eventually became his right hand lady when he moved to another city - "stepping up" he called it.

Her Embrace was accidental - the result of a desperate struggle with thugs sent against Bug Eye who broke into the gang's den. Bug Eye survived because of Fringes quick thinking but she was fatally stabbed; her actions gave Bug Eye his opening and he was able to subdue the thugs calling on his own dark powers. Whether for thanks, lust, or in the heat of the moment (Bug Eye never explained) Fringe was Embraced into clan Mekhet.

The thugs had been sent by rivals would have succeeded if it was not for Fringe. Together, Sire and Childe rebuilt their little petty kingdom... until tougher thugs with bigger backing came knocking. Bug Eye fled again, taking his Childe with him.

The flight to the West Coast was Fringe's trial by fire. Bug Eye had kept her in the dark about many things, including how to best function in the Unlife. Ripped from familiar surroundings, Fringe was freed from her Sire's grasp. Fear turned to disdain, disdain to contempt. When they finally parted ways in Sacramento, Fringe was glad to see the back of him.

APPEARANCE

Before the Embrace, Fringe was scrawny and pale. After the Embrace, she was... more... scrawny and paler still. Currently, Fringe keeps a simple wardrobe of durable, lasting clothing and gear; it includes many scarves and hoodies, a remnant of the early paranoia generated by Bug Eye's tales of the Masquerade, the Beast and the effect on CCTV footage.
