Dicky is the headstrong son of an old money American family. A fairly smart kid, he learned good and early how to keep his head down, and to play nice with the old timers. His parents spent so little time at home, he could get away with most anything as long as he put up a front for them. On paper, he seemed like a perfect student and in person a respectable socialite. That's probably how he caught the attention of his sire.
While he was hiding radical social beliefs with his schoolfriends, the Dark Lady only saw blue blood and a fortune.
Dicky parted ways with his sire on somewhat bad terms. Freed from mortality, he no longer felt a need to hide his attitudes. That's probably what got him staked.
Twelve years later, the wood spike is dislodged and Dicky wakes back up, nothing but a trust fund in his name.
